Why Vibe?
VIBE Urban Youth Ministry began in the fall of 2000 when several youth workers believed that urban congregations could do more together than apart. With these partnerships, VIBE was launched. In the months and years following, congregations have collaborated through activities for all ages. High school youth meetings, family activities, and summer camp were all added to better to better impact these communities. Because of VIBE youth ministry, the city has changed for the better! With VIBE youth ministry as we know it has changed from struggling to inspired because we have come together.
It takes faith and an adventurous heart to be a part of a collaborative community such as VIBE. Not all of the VIBE congregations are alike, and we wouldn’t be who we are if they were. VIBE stretches beyond our congregations and beyond race, ethnicity, disability, and sexuality to a place where every person meets Jesus through relationships. All are welcome! Taking the risk to transform and empower urban youth, working together to unite congregations in the city and working towards strengthening the communities around us is the exciting joy of being a part of VIBE!

IBE Future:
During the 2007-2008, VIBE was affected heavily by change. Change is good, change gets people moving, thinking, and praying. With new Staff, Pastors, Life-Liners, and programs, it was truly a new day for VIBE. From 2008-2009 we received a new logo and a new leadership structure and became our own non profit organization. For 2009-2010 we are emphasizing a more rounded ministry that attends to the 3 rooms of Youth Ministry: The Foyer, Living Room, and Kitchen. The foyer is a place to gather and have fellowship. It is about fun and friends. The living room is about making and sustaining relationships and having intentional conversations about our faith and the important topics of the day. The Kitchen is where we do the work of service in the community and world and liking about our impact in the world. We hope that in our ministry with families, middle school and high school youth, that each group will have the time in the foyer, living room, and kitchen.
Our Life-Liners!
VIBE Life-Liners are the leaders in their congregations. These adults care for young people. They have answered the call to work with VIBE staff and Pastors to unite congregations, transform urban youth, and strengthen communities. Life-Liners gather monthly to grow in the Word and in the community, to pray for youth and congregations. Life-Liners gather to train and to be trained and equipped for ministry in their congregations. Life-Liners are also people who will have the latest information about VIBE activities. We invite members of VIBE to pray for Life-Liners and support them and this ministry of VIBE congregations. Take your Life-Liners to lunch. Take time to get to know your Life-Liner.
